Emmerdale spoilers: newcomer Ethan Anderson protests his innocence

Hearing the news of Sarah's disappearance, a furious Debbie arrives back in Emmerdale as Charity despairs over how bad things have got.

As Debbie and Cain launch into action with a plan to track down Sarah, newcomers Charles and Ethan have other priorities.

Charles implores Debbie to impress upon Sarah how important it is she come clean about planting the drugs on Ethan.

But Debbie has no time for bargaining and tells Charles to back off, and that she's got more important things to think about - like finding her daughter.

Over at the church, Ethan confides in Charles he's been suspended from his law firm over Sarah's accusations and concerned about his career.

Desperate to reassure his son, Charles advises Ethan to pick his battles and to make the better use of his energy, rather than letting himself be poisoned by anger and bitterness.

With Sarah safely returned to her family, Ethan calls at the Woolpack and demands to see their CCTV from the night he was accused.

When Chas insists there are no cameras in that area of the pub, Ethan once again rounds on Sarah, convinced she's guilty.

But Nate sternly warns Ethan to back off and Sarah is keeping her lips sealed, leaving Ethan frustration and determined to prove his innocence.

Later on when Debbie notices Sarah's strange behaviour she demands she tells the truth and when Sarah finally admits she planted the pills in Ethan's pocket. How will Debbie react?

Elsewhere, Rhona can't hide her delight when Marlon wants to take her on a date for afternoon tea in Hotten.

But when Marlon is called in for a last minute shift at the pub and has to cancel their date, he's worried he's mucked up his chances again.

Determined to prove he's serious about Rhona, Marlon arrives for a date dressed as Stan Laurel, in a nod to the black and white movie nights they used to do.

As Rhona takes in the effort Marlon has clearly made and makes up her mind, has he done enough to move their friendship to the next level?

Meanwhile it's Lucas' birthday and at the pub Harriet tries to hide her anger as Will and Kim flirt outrageously right in front of her.

As Kim brazenly turns on the charm, Harriet decides she's had enough of watching the display and heads out to pick up Lucas.

She ends up being gone so long, that Dawn and Will start to worry something is wrong and panic when they can't get through to her on the phone.

Arriving home hours later with Lucas it's clear that Harriet is drunk despite her best efforts to hide it and Dawn is furious with her.

In a fit of rage and hell bent on hurting Harriet, Dawn snaps and reveals that Will and Kim have been sleeping together, leaving Harriet stung.

But despite her small act of revenge, the next day Dawn is shocked to find Lucas' social worker Eloise waiting for her and is worried it seems urgent.

Soon Dawn's stomach drops when Eloise tells her that when Harriet arrived to pick up Lucas the previous day there was a period of hours where he was missing.

Devastated about what this might mean for her relationship with Lucas, Dawn's worst fears are realised when the police come to take him away.

Over at the scrap yard, Connor has been playing dirty with Paul and soon is threatening him with exposing his secret to his family.

The stress of being found out pushes Paul over the edge and soon he finds himself making a phone call and placing a bet - not realising Vinny has seen the whole thing.

Meanwhile over at the Woolie an oblivious Mandy is catching up with Laurel and is given an idea when she hears about Chas and Paddy's honeymoon.
