Faith takes her son on a trip down memory lane to help heal their rift
Ever curious to know just why Cain is the mixed-up, brooding hunk of a man we’ve all come to love? Or why he has such a fractured relationship with his mum Faith?
Well you’re in luck because things are going to become a little clearer next week when Emmerdale airs special flashback scenes.
Next week, viewers will see Cain, and his mother Faith, go on a trip down memory lane and rake over their old demons.
The episode unfolds when Faith tricks Cain into getting into the car with her, pretending that struggling new mum, Moira, needs their help again.
However rather than set off for Butlers Farm to see Cain’s baby Isaac, she instead takes her son back to his childhood roots.
Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain says, “She rushes into the garage and insists Moira needs him straight away. Cain gets into the car but Faith then drives him to the house where he grew up.”
In special flashback scenes to the 1980s, a child actor is then seen playing a young Cain Dingle.
“These ghosts from the past come back”, says Jeff. “We find out more about the history between Cain and Faith and why Faith left him and his sister Chas to be brought up by their father Shadrach.”
So will a trip back to their past help Faith and Cain bury the hatchet and get on with their lives?
“Whether they can move forward to another place remains to be seen”, says Jeff. “Cain will always hold things against Faith, but whether she’ll be able to redeem herself in the future, well have to wait and see…”
Watch the episode on ITV, Friday, 17 November, 7pm
