Producer Kate Oates has teased that another character could face a grisly demise tonight, as the aftermath of the dramatic helicopter crash continues.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Kate said that 'there may well' be another death.

She said: "I can't tell you who [else] we're going to lose, but if you stay tuned tonight then you will some more drama of that ilk.

"There may well [be another death]. There's got to be consequence. It's got to be people the viewers are invested in because you've got to care."

Praising Alicya Eyo, who plays Ruby, for her performance, Kate continued: "Last night when Ruby died, I sob every time I see it.

"[Alicya] gave a really brilliant performance. You really have to entrust it with people who can carry the story."

Speaking of her decision to kill off Ruby, Kate told Digital Spy: "It's never [one] we take lightly.

"We are very much an ensemble and everybody's role in the show is as important as everybody else's. You get some soap families that in the show for many years and some that run their course and I felt that maybe that had happened with the Spencers."

Emmerdale's Disaster Week continues tonight at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.
