Ross Kemp may be an expert on gangs and hardpan documentary maker nowadays, but he made his name as a soapstar.

Yup, Ross rose to fame as Grant Mitchell in BBC One’s EastEnders - a role which he is set to reprise later this year.

But it seems as if EastEnders wasn’t actually Ross’s first foray into the world of soaps.

That’s right; the 51-year-old actually first appeared in the DALES, of all places, as Dolly Skilbeck’s son in ITV’s Emmerdale.

We know, we know - we’re stunned, too.

Ross played the role of Graham Lodsworth in the ITV soap.

And before you accuse us of making a mountain out of a molehill, we’d like to point out that Grant - sorry, Ross - wasn’t just in one measly episode.

Oh no.

In fact, he appeared in a whopping 22 episodes between 1986 to 1987.

Which basically makes him an Emmerdale star, in our opinion.

Watch Ross Kemp’s Emmerdale episode below:

Graham (aka Ross) first started hanging around Emmerdale farm in December 1986, ominously stalking Dolly around.

But, as it turned out, he wasn’t out to cause her harm; he was, in fact, an army deserter and tearaway, who just wanted to spend some time with his beloved mum.

Bless. He’s not so different from Grant after all, is he?

Did you know Ross Kemp was in Emmerdale before he was in EastEnders?
