There is just no stopping Emmerdale rn, as they take home yet ANOTHER swanky award at the BAFTAS
Looks like 2017 is really Emmerdale's year. The Yorkshire-based soap scooped yet another prestigious award at last night's BAFTAs ceremoney. Fans of the Dales where in absolute raptures as the show walked away with the Best Soap trophy. Emmerdale has already scooped the Best Serial Drama prize at the 2017 National Television Awards and the Best Soap and Continuing Drama gong at the Royal Television Society Awards. Phew.
Emmerdale has often been considered a bit of an underdog compared to the Big Boys, EastEnders and Coronation Street, but the soap has more than come into its own over the last few years.
It's tackled some hard-hitting storylines in really innovative and sensitve ways which have won it more fans.
Viewers have recently seen the end of the much-praised dementia storyline which saw former vicar, Ashley Thomas, gradually lose himself to the disease.
The show also tackled drug use in prison with fan favourite, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) getting hooked on controversial drug Spice while inside.
Fans took to Twitter to congratulate the cast and crew for their big win.
And the stars themselves were clearly over the moon with their newest trophy.
We bet there's a few sore heads in Leeds this morning...
