Emmerdale continues its run of award winning success by scooping Best Soap at RTS Awards
It feels like every month we're congratulating Emmerdale for picking up another prize for being the best soap, or having the most dramatic storyline, or most fabulous actor. Having already scooped top prizes at the National Television Awards and the Broadcast Awards, the cast and crew have taken home the RTS Award for Best Soap and Continuing Drama. Yay. It's the second year the Emmerdaliens have won this prize.
Emmerdale's Executive Producer, Ian Macleod, was on hand to accept the award and to praise his team for the brilliant storylines and acting that keep the soap nudging ahead of the others.
The award was presented by Sandy Tosvig, who said: "It should be said the cast and crew and production team pulled off an ambitious and extraordinary conceit this year with wonderful production values and highly watchable, unpredictable, rewarding storytelling for soap and continuing drama. This year’s RTS programme award goes to Emmerdale."
The soap has been praised for its hard-hitting storylines such as Holly Barton's shock death, Ahsley Thomas' dementia storyline - and of course Aaron Dingle's abuse at the hands of his father.
The British Soap Awards are coming up in May - can Emmerdale scoop Best Soap there as well? Watch this space...
