Emmerdale viewers have been warned about the acid attack scene which was aired last night - but they still weren't prepared...
We've known for a while that poor Ross Barton was going to be the victim of an acid attack in Emmerdale.
But despite the forewarning, nothing could have prepared us for the horror of it - and viewers took to Twitter to air their disgust, with many admitting they felt sick after watching the scenes.
In last night's double bill episode, Ross was attacked by drug dealer Simon after a case of mistaken identity, as he was sent by Debbie Dingle to "rough up" Joseph Tate.

Unfortunately, Simon not only took it WAY too far from what Debbie had been planning - he also got the wrong person.
Ross was left writhing in agony as Joe and Graham came to his aid, pouring water on the burns which had mainly affected his face.
His face was kept away from the camera, until at the very end of the episode viewers could see the damage that had been done - and were shocked to hear that it was irreparable.

Whilst viewers praised the soap for highlighting topical issues, they were still left reeling by the terrifying and realistic scenes.
But some couldn't take the harrowing scenes, and the episode received 228 complaints from Ofcom.
However, many viewers understood the need to raise awareness of the issue, and took to social media to state this.
One wrote on Facebook: "Some people need to get a grip or crawl back under the rock they live under where absolutely nothing happens. It's a soap, if you can't stand watching someone act turn off your TV.
"The news is on several times a day full of horrible things, it's how the world is. There have been warnings for weeks about the acid attack so if you chose to watch it deal with it and stop whining."
Many viewers also praised the performance of Michael Parr, who plays Ross in soap, and he took to Twitter to support viewers.
