Last night’s episode of EastEnders left viewers shocked, as it was revealed that Alfie Moon had a ‘suspicious mass’ on his brain.
Unwilling got give up on his and Kat’s happy ending, he appeared to brush the shock diagnosis under the carpet - deciding instead to leave for Spain with his wife and children.
But does this spell the end for Alfie Moon?
Well, quite possibly - especially as actor Shane Richie recently revealed that Kat will remain fully in the dark about her husband’s cancer news.
He told Radio Times: "Just when you think they're finding happiness, something like this happens. It's a dark secret that Alfie takes to Ireland with him. The audience will know, but no one else will."
Shane also recently let slip, despite the fact he and Jessie Wallace are leaving for their own six-part Kat and Alfie spin-off show, that he will not be returning to Albert Square.
He told The Mirror: “I’m out of it now … you’ll see.”
In tonight’s episode, we will see Alfie making a farewell speech in The Vic - shortly before Sister Judith bursts in and asks to speak with Kat in private.
She is presumably set to tell Kat all about the son she never knew she had (hotly rumoured by many to be Stacey Slater’s brother, Sean).
The news will see Kat and Alfie’s plans turned upside down, as they head to Ireland instead of Spain… but are they heading there to find Kat’s long-lost son?
Or are they heading there to get life-saving treatment for Alfie?
EastEnders continues tonight (Friday 22 May 2015) on BBC One at 8pm.
