EastEnders star Richard Blackwood confirms EXIT over character’s storyline

Richard Blackwood, who plays Vincent Hubbard, is leaving EastEnders

It was only recently revealed that Jenna Russell, who plays Michelle Fowler, is leaving the showbut it seems another star has bit the dust as EastEnders bosses have confirmed that Richard Blackwood is bowing out of the soap too.

Despite it being a mutual decision, after three years on the square Richard, who plays Vincent Hubbard, decided to leave the show following his last storyline.

Speaking to Digital Spy, he explained: "I have loved every minute of my time at EastEnders, and although I will be sad to say goodbye, after three years it feels the right time to leave."

He went on to say: "I have been truly blessed with some great storylines since the moment I joined, but when I was presented with my last story, I knew it was time for Vincent to depart Walford.

"I'm now excited about what the future holds. I have a feature film out this year, I will be returning to theatre and also some great presenting TV gigs."

An EastEnders spokesperson added: "We can confirm that Richard will be leaving EastEnders this spring. Richard has been a great addition to the show and we wish him all the best for the future."

Since joining the show in 2015 viewers have seen Vincent and Phil Mitchell's feud spiral, Vincent discover that his mum Claudette secretly killed his dad and all that drama with Aidan McGuire and the heist money.

As Vincent and Michelle leave the show, fans have the Slater family reunion and Max Branning's upcoming storyline (that could have something to do with Rainie Cross) to look forward to.
