Zainab Masood hasn’t been seen on our screens since 2013, following the breakdown of her marriage with Masood.
And, in scenes aired shortly before the wedding of her daughter, Shabnam, it was shockingly revealed that Zainab wanted to cut all ties with her family.
However fans have been busy dreaming up a scenario where the Masood matriarch would finally return to Albert Square - if only so she could express her disapproval over the fact that her son, Tamwar (Himesh Patel), is dating Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill).
Well, for fans of the soap, we got a sneak-peek at how that meeting might go down during a hilarious episode of The One Show.
Things took turn for the hilarious when, during the episode broadcast on 14th January, EastEnders star Maddy Hill and Nina Wadia both appeared opposite one another.
And Nina - who is just as famous for her comedy performances as she is for her stint as Zainab - couldn’t resist addressing the fact that her estranged on-screen son is dating Maddy’s Nancy.
She quipped: ”Maddy, I understand you are dating my son Tamwar in EastEnders.
“I am not happy about that."
The actress was then shown a photograph of Nancy and Tamwar kissing in the Masood home.
And her response was just another example of Nina’s knack for comedy timing.
She joked: "Oh my goodness. Is that you on my sofa in my house? Kissing MY son?”
Nina added, in a deadpan voice: “I’m distraught - I'm leaving!"
Maddy Hill, playing along with the skit, couldn’t help but laugh at Nina’s outburst.
However she did agree with the real-life Zainab’s comments, insisting: "[Zainab] would be absolutely raging. She would be."
And, when Nina asked if Nancy was wearing shoes in the scene, Maddy responded brilliantly: “I always take my shoes off, I always do.
“And if they forget, I always tell them I shouldn’t have my shoes on!”
It looks as if Maddy Hill can definitely hold her own in a debate with Nina Wadia - but we wonder if Nancy would fare as well against Zainab should she return to Albert Square?
It seems as if we may possibly get a chance to find out, as Nina Wadia hintedin 2015 that her character could be returning to EastEnders in the not-so-distant future.
Speaking to Inside Soap, she said: "I never know if I am going to be asked but I'll never say never. Zainab was broken when she left.
"The attractive thing about Zainab was always that she was painfully annoying. If she ever did go back, there is no way she will have mellowed."
