Ross Kemp played Grant Mitchell - aka the thug with a heart of gold - in EastEnders from 1990 to 1999.
The actor returned briefly in 2005 and 2006, but, so far, has yet to come back and set up home in Albert Square.
Now, during a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, Annette Badland (aka the twisted Aunt Babe) has seemingly let slip that Grant Mitchell’s return is in the bag.
Oh yes.
Like any true ‘Enders fan, Susanna Reid was quick to ask the real-life Babe if there was any truth surrounding the rumours of a Mitchell brothers reunion.
The actress replied cryptically: "Babe might be on the prowl looking out for him now…"
"That suggests Ross Kemp is coming back," a visibly excited Susanna quizzed back.
Smilling a secretive smile, Annette said: “Who am I to say?
“I never tell lies.”
That episode of GMB needed it’s very own ‘doof-doof’ cliffhanger music, didn’t it?
If Grant WAS to return, he’d find himself smack-bang in the middle of a LOT of Mitchell drama; his brother Phil (Steve McFadden) is all set to be kidnapped by Kathy’s evil husband, Gavin (Paul Nicholas).
Will he be able to help Ben (Harry Reid), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) and his ex-lover Sharon (Letitia Dean) save Phil from a nasty fate?
EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
