Sob!

EastEnders' Samantha Womack (Ronnie Mitchell) and Rita Simons (Roxy Mitchell), the infamous Mitchell sisters, are rumoured to be getting a dramatic exit storyline that will see both of them meeting their bitter end at the end of this year.

And ever since the news leaked that the sisters will be leaving the soap AT THE SAME TIME after a decade of award-winning drama – the rumour mill has been on fire. Will they be killed off in a dramatic stunt?

An insider told Digital Spy: "Rita and Samantha created the iconic Mitchell sisters and with their undeniable chemistry, they immediately created a double act that the viewers fell in love with.

"But when [the show staff] all sat down to work out where to take them, they all felt it was the right time to rest them. When you look back over nearly a decade and realise what they have been through, it seems that most avenues have been exhausted.”

Viewers were left fuming after reports emerged over the weekend that both Ronnie and Roxy will be killed off at the end of this year, instead of being able to return in the future.

According to The Sun, their storyline has already been written and finalised - leaving their fellow cast members ‘really upset’ by the decision, made by new executive producer Sean O’Connor.

The source said: “Everyone’s in shock. The cast are really upset as it’s come out of the blue.”

They added: “People are worried who’s going to be next. The script for Roxy and Ronnie’s deaths has been written, but none of the actors know what’s going to happen.”

However a spokesperson for EastEnders refused to comment on the rumours, telling Radiotimes:

"We know how much our audience hate to have any future storylines spoilt so we will not comment on speculative stories. At no point have we received any concerns from cast about any of our future storylines."

A spokesperson also commented: "At no point have we received any concerns from cast about any of our future storylines."

As soap lovers will already know, sometimes we have to say goodbye to our favourite characters – in order to create the ‘on the edge of the seat’ drama that keeps us tuned in, day in day out.

Do you think Ronnie and Roxy should be killed off? Or is it a step too far?

As so many characters are being lined up to leave Walford, will Ronnie and Roxy be the only ones to end up brown bread…?

Hmmmmm.
