EastEnders fans, it seems as if Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) has not been completely honest about his whereabouts on the night daughter Lucy was murdered.
And now Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks) has made a shock return to Walford, ready to blackmail Lucy's father after discovering some valuable information…
In scenes broadcast last night on BBC1, Rainie - the sister of former Walford resident Tanya Branning - made a shock arrival at Ian's restaurant and greeted him with the words: "Seeing as you have trouble picking up the phone, I just thought I'd make it easy for you and drop by."
That's right; Rainie is the mysterious 'R' that Ian has been in contact with - and she is seemingly connected with Lucy be ale's murder.
Speaking of the latest development in the plot, an EastEnders spokesperson said to RadioTimes.com: "It never rains but it pours for Ian!
"Having received numerous texts and phone calls over the past couple of weeks, it has now been revealed that the mystery sender was Rainie and now she’s back.
"But why has she returned and what does she know about Good Friday that Ian is so desperate to keep quiet?"
During her original time in Albert Square, Rainie was seen struggling with addictions to both alcohol and drugs - and left after failing to reconcile with sister Tanya, Max Branning's wife.
Max Branning who is, we hasten to add, also a prime suspect in the Lucy Beale murder plot.
Teasing the reason for Rainie's return, Tanya Banks told Digital Spy: "Let's just say it has something to do with the murder.
"I'm not saying that I am part of the murder and I am not saying that I am not part of the murder.
"Rainie does have some involvement with Ian Beale. I'm just going to say that, but keep watching."
Tonight's episode (June 17) will shed further light on the extent of Ian's involvement with Rainie as his recent actions continue to haunt him.
But did he murder his daughter? And, if not, why is he so desperately ashamed of himself? Why is he refusing to reveal his actual whereabouts to the police?
We guess we'll just have to wait and see...
