That’s right; Peggy Mitchell might be running back to Walford to kick her boys into shape. As viewers know, other son Phil has got himself into a bit of bother recently – and a visit from his old Ma could be just what he needs.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Star, Barbara Windsor, who plays Peggy, said: “I did hear the rumour about Ross going back, but who knows? It would obviously be a great storyline to have Peggy reunited with her boys.”
Barbara added: “Never say never. It could happen.”
It’s been alleged that BBC bosses are keen to get the whole Mitchell family back together.
We can just imagine it: Phil and Ben joined by Peggy, Grant and Sam [played by Danniella Westbrook, obviously]. They’d be back behind the bar at the Queen Vic before the Carters knew what was going on, wouldn’t they?
Peggy was last on our screens at the beginning of the year, when she briefly returned around the time of the 30th anniversary.
Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins recently dropped the biggest hint yet fans could soon be treated to a Mitchell family reunion.
He said: “I think the fact you’ve got Phil, Kathy, Sharon – there’s a person missing isn’t there?
“Actually, to get all four on screen at the same time is a dream. As an EastEnders fan, you want to watch that. I would want to watch that.”
