It’s official; we’ve FINALLY been given our first glimpse of Peggy Mitchell’s return to Walford.
Yup, EastEnders have released a special promo video for the show's British Soap Awards nominations.
And, in it, we get a sneaky peek at Dame Barbara Windsor’s big EastEnders comeback.
However, judging by the few seconds we’ve seen, it seems as if our beloved Peggy has had some of the spark knocked out of her.
We watch as Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) walks towards her front door, before swinging it open to reveal that Peggy is on her doorstep.
Judging by the expression on Peggy’s face, however, she comes bearing bad news.
Too bad those infamous ‘doof doof doors’ cut her off before she can say anything, eh?
Check it out below:
Poor Peggy - she doesn’t look too happy, does she?
In previous scenes, Peggy revealed to her son, Phil (Steve McFadden) that her cancer had returned - and that, this time, the disease would kill her.
Dame Barbara previously said: "Peggy is a character close to my heart but I made the decision a while ago that I need to say goodbye to Peggy once and for all as otherwise she will always be there, urging me to go back and that is something I need to shut the door on.
“After thinking long and hard about it, I realised that it is time for me and the audience to say our final farewells to the lady who I have loved for many years and I thought that whilst the guvnor, who I adore, is still in charge I want him to be the one to oversee it.
"I am grateful that Dominic has accepted my decision and together, since late last summer, we have been secretly plotting Peggy’s last scenes.”
