EastEnders relationships are always dogged by trouble, aren’t they?
So, when Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) finds herself unhappy in her relationship with Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White), she does what any soap character in her position would do.
Yup, you guessed it; she turns to her ex for comfort.
She and Martin (James Bye) will be spending a fair bit of time together over the next fortnight, as they’re trying to keep an eye on their daughter, Bex (Jasmine Armfield).
In a bid to better understand the teenager, they’re set to arrange a family dinner with her new boyfriend Shakil Kazemi (Shaheen Jafargholi).
Naturally, things go wrong - and Sonia, realising how much Bex needs her, decides to go ahead with a double mastectomy.
With this hanging over her, not to mention Tina’s recent affair with Sophie Dodd, it’s understandable that Sonia isn’t feeling her usual self.
And, after spending time with Martin again, the lines quickly become blurred.
Craving the stability of her former marriage, she soon leans in for a passionate kiss.
How will Martin react - will the flames of passion be reignited, or will he stay loyal to his new wife?
And, more importantly, what will the former couple do if anyone walks in and sees them in such a compromising position?
Hinting that fans of Stacey and Martin needn’t worry too much, Natalie Cassidy previously told Digital Spy: "I actually think Sonia might need some time on her own.
“I know it sounds boring, but it would be nice to see her at home with her daughter and giving herself a break."
However, speaking about her character’s special relationship with Martin, she added: "I think out of anyone on the Square, they will turn to each other because they know each other best. They've known each other for such a long time, more than half their lives, and they've had such a huge connection…
"The audience has grown up with you and they know the characters. It's very special. It's the same as with Sharon and Phil."
Eep!
