We've known for a while that Paul (Johnny Labey) is leaving Albert Square later this year, but we're still completely clueless as to how.

However, it all sounds like it's going to be a very emotional affair.

Paul first joined the square in 2015 and originally thought that his grandfather Les Coker (Roger Sloman) was cheating on his wife Pam – played by Lin Blakley – with Claudette Hubbard (Ellen Thomas) but later found out that Les has a feminine alter ego called Christine.

Paul has since had a difficult relationship with Ben Mitchell (because Ben was dating Abi at the time) and now all seems to be well.

But as Paul's exit approaches it sounds like Ben and his grandparents will struggle with coming to terms with it all.

Lin described Paul's upcoming exit as awful, adding: "Les and Pam will miss their grandson, but I will miss Jonny as he is such a dear boy," she told Inside Soap.

The actress explained: "I would imagine it's going to be hell for Paul's boyfriend Ben, whatever happens, and I am sure there will be a few gasps from the audience who'll think, 'My gosh, I didn't see that coming!'"

After the announcement that Paul who has been in the show for a year was leaving he tweeted: "WOW Thank you for your support but there's still SO MUCH to happen for Paul so don't lose hope, this is JUST THE START!"

A spokesperson previously told Digital Spy: "Jonny is leaving in a couple of months as part of an explosive storyline.

"Bosses are keeping tight lipped about what's in story but there's plenty of drama in store for Paul before he leaves."

How do you think Paul will exit the show?
