EastEnders Whitney and Lee split

Just as we though Whitney Dean and Lee Carter were putting aside their issues and were totally loved up, it’s all about to go a bit downhill.

But, this is EastEnders after all, so were you really expecting a happy ever after when Whitney (Shona McGarty) found out she was pregnant with Lee (Danny-Boy Hatchard)’s baby?

Recently, it was revealed that Whitney will be dealt a devastating blow after she finds out she has contracted chlamydia.

Viewers will remember that Lee and Abi Branning shared a one-night stand not too long ago, and that Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) had contracted the STI from then-boyfriend Ben Mitchell who had also been unfaithful.

Is Whitney about to put the links together and realise that Lee has cheated on her?

Whitney isn’t the most secure person when it comes to relationships, and we recently saw her best friend Lauren Branning keep her sister Abi’s secret from her, knowing it would compromise Whitney’s happiness.

One person that doesn’t want the couple to split is Danny-Boy who plays Lee, however.

Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, he said: "I will be upset if they break up, as I really enjoy working with Shona.

"She's a fantastic actress, and I think it would be nice to see a young working-class couple experience something like this and come out the other side.”

The actor then explained how the couple are still “madly in love” and despite their ups and downs, hopes that the EastEnders team believe enough in Lee and Whitney as a couple to give them a family.

"I love working with kids, so I would really enjoy that. Whitney's not had an on-screen child of her own, either, so I think it would be nice for Shona as well,” he added.

We would love to see Whitney’s dreams of being a mum and having a supportive family around her come true, wouldn’t you?

EastEnders continues tonight at 7:30pm on BBC One.
