Shabnam Masood (Rakhee Thakrar) and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) are still coming to terms with the loss of their unborn baby.

And, as a result, Shabnam has been distant with her pregnant best friend Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner).

But it seems as if an even larger wedge is set to form between the two friends, as EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins has hinted that Stacey’s baby may actually be Kush’s.

He told The Sun: “The first story for us is how it puts a strain on your friendship if your best friend is pregnant and you’ve lost a baby, which I think is a very real story.

“Underneath that, you have also got the audience starting to realise that the baby may not be Martin’s.”

Stacey, before settling down with Martin Fowler (James Bye) was seen kissing Shabnam’s fiancé.

However, although it was hinted at, viewers did not see if the pair went on to sleep together.

If the baby DOES turn out to be Kush’s, does this mean that everything will be over between him and Shabnam?

Well, speaking at the TV Choice Awards, Rakhee admitted that her character still had tough times to come - but hinted that she and Kush WILL be able to work things out.

She said: “You’ll have to wait and see, but what I can say is their relationship will continue to be tested. But they’re a special couple.

“They fall apart and then they get back together, they’re like magnets. So we’ll see them clashing, but ultimately they’re still together.”

Show boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins added: "Shabnam and Kush's story is only just beginning.”

Do you think Kush is the father of Stacey's unborn baby?
