EastEnders spoilers: Kathy Beale to return to Walford for ‘big, big story’

As many EastEnders fans will remember, the one and only Kathy Beale made a brief return to EastEnders during the soap's 30th anniversary celebrations back in February.

Which came as a shock to plenty of us, being as she’d supposedly died in a car crash 15 years earlier.

And now, FINALLY, soap boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins has revealed that Gillian Taylforth’s character is gearing up to make her return - in a very big way.

He told the Radio Times: “We’ve storylined her return properly. You’ll see a flash of Kathy again fairly soon and then boom!

“She’s already filmed her next little tease.”

However, despite all the hard work that’s gone into Kathy’s storyline, Dominic has admitted that he still feels a little nervous about bringing Ian Beale’s mum back from the dead.

“I still feel edgy about it all," he said.

"We were very careful about doing it. I would only have done it if we had a proper storyline to bring her back. I wouldn’t have done it just for the sake of that week."

However, for those of you looking forward to Ian and Kathy’s emotional reunion, you’ll have a little while longer to wait; neither Gillian nor Adam Woodyatt have filmed any scenes together yet.

"That's what you're waiting for!” teased Dominic.

“We know that there was a Gavin that she went off with. It’s a big, big story with a lot of twists and turns, as you’ve come to expect from us. There’s Gavin, Kathy and there’s a lot of Phil involved.

"It’s going to draw in lots of different families from around the Square and it’s not going to be easy for her to come back."
