Poor old Jay has been very unlucky in love.
From his fraught relationship with Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald), to his brief tryst with Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold), Jay (Jamie Borthwick) just hasn’t been able to find that special someone.
Which is why we all breathed a sigh of relief when the young mechanic began dating a beautiful - albeit mysterious stranger, Linzi (Amy-Leigh Hickman).
So far we’ve seen him whisk her away on a milkshake date, transform the Arches into a heart-filled grotto, and shared a few chaste kisses.
Young love, eh?
But, as it turns out, young love is exactly what it is - and Jay was left shell-shocked when, in last night’s episode, he discovered that Linzi Bragg is actually a schoolgirl.
It all came to a head when he turned up at Louise Mitchell’s new school, after learning that she had gotten into a fight on her first day.
The identity of the pupil she’d been brawling with?
Yup, you guessed it; Linzi.
Damn.
We previously predicted that Linzi Bragg was hiding a terrible secret - and, as it turns out, we were bang on the money.
But we never could have predicted the shocking consequences her lie would have for Jay.
Speaking of the drama to come next, an EastEnders insider told Digital Spy: "Jay's world comes to a juddering halt when he discovers the truth about Linzi's age.
“He immediately realises the seriousness of his mistake - and is set to face severe consequences."
Things are set to go from bad to worse as Linzi’s secret is unveiled - and we imagine things are going to get VERY bad for 21-year-old Jay when it’s revealed that she’s been sending him sexy photos via text.
Could Linzi be set to blackmail Jay into staying with her?
EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins previously said that 2016 is going to be Jay’s “biggest yet” - suggesting that this underage storyline isn’t going to be wrapped up anytime soon.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Dominic promised that Jay is set for a ‘huge storyline in 2016’, claiming it will be Jamie Borthwick’s biggest ever in the show.
He added that it will even be one of the biggest plotlines we can expect in 2016.
And, when previously quizzed about the Janzi romance, show insiders kept things VERY cryptic.
“As soon as they see each other, there’s clearly a spark between them. They get on really well.
"But viewers will have to wait and see whether or not this is the start of a new romance for Jay…” they told the RadioTimes.com.
Yikes!
