EastEnders fans recently watched as Bobby Beale FINALLY confessed to murdering his sister, Lucy Beale, on Good Friday 2014.

And his words are set to have a ripple effect on everyone in Walford - and beyond.

Yup, Max Branning (Jake Wood) is currently languishing in prison after he was wrongly found guilty of Lucy’s murder.

Even worse?

He’s been brooding over the fact that a LOT of people in Albert Square knew the truth - and did nothing to help him.

Notably Bobby’s parents, Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) - and his own beloved daughter, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa).

So it makes sense that, when he’s finally released from his cell, Max is hellbent on revenge.

Speaking during an online Q&A with mFortune players, Jake Wood teased his character’s explosive return - and it sounds as if it’s going to be unmissable stuff.

He said: “Max is still in prison, wrongly accused. So hopefully he’ll get out and cause some havoc.

“I’d like to see him coming after Ian Beale for setting him up, I think that’d be a good storyline. Hopefully he’ll come out of prison looking for revenge.”

However it’s not just the Beale and Branning families that are set to be ripped apart by Max’s scheming.

It seems as if newlyweds Martin Fowler (James Bye) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) had also better watch out, too!

As longtime fans of the soap will know, Max has long been obsessed with Stacey after the pair embarked on an ill-advised affair back in the day.

However his feelings towards her are a lot stronger than they may first appear - and it seems as if she could be the love of his life.

Even if, you know, he’s not the love of hers.

Jake teased: "They’re two characters that work incredibly well and they’ve got a big history together.

“I think towards the end of their relationship when they weren’t together, he was a good friend to her and supported her a lot."

He went on: "I always thought they should get married but that’d be too strange. I don’t know what the future holds for Max and Stacey.

"From a personal point of view, I love working with Lacey Turner, I think she’s incredible so I hope there’s more Max and Stacey stuff to come."

EastEnders continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on BBC One.
