EastEnders’ legend Peggy Mitchell (Dame Barbara Windsor) is back in the Square for one last time.
And it won’t be long before another one of the Square’s most iconic characters, Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp), will be back.
This week, viewers will watch as Peggy arrives in Walford and discovers that her cancer has spread so much that nothing more can be done; her days are, tragically, numbered.
As Peggy’s family rallies around her, news that his family needs him quickly reaches Grant and the thought of losing his mother is the one and only thing that will bring him back to Walford.
But what will happen when Grant and Phil come face-to-face once more?
Well, quite a LOT, according to Ross Kemp.
Speaking to The Mirror, he said: “He’s sort of looked after Peggy for many years, then she tells Phil about it without telling him.
"And Phil has spent what Grant saw as Courtney’s inheritance. So he’s not very happy with Phil.”
He continued to explain that the Mitchell brothers are set to go to war over their differences - although, unlike the old days, things may be resolved MUCH more quickly.
Speaking about their oncoming fight, he said: “There’s a frisson. Of course Grant would win – particularly as Phil is dying of cirrhosis. One would hope so.”
But, as if THAT wasn’t enough for EastEnders fans to get excited about, it seems as if things are set to get VERY steamy between Grant and one of his exes.
He said: “There’ll be some violence with tears thrown in and I have a little bit of sex as well. What else do you want from a soap?”
Our money’s on Sharon Mitchell.
After all, Letitia Dean’s character WAS originally Grant’s wife - until, in 1994, he discovered she’d cheated on him with Phil.
Let’s just remind ourselves of that iconic moment, shall we?
Poor old Grant.
Well, Sharon and Phil are most definitely on the rocks now - so we imagine that gives her a BIG incentive to lock lips with her muscular ex-hubby.
Plus, you know, she did utter THIS scathing line to Phil in a recent episode:
“If I’d had any idea that my life with you would be so massively disappointing, I’d have stayed with Grant.”
Miaow!
We can’t WAIT - keep an eye out as to which day this week Grant will make his first surprise appearance.
