We've been busy wondering who killed Lucy Beale for MONTHS now - and, at last, EastEnders bosses are finally going to give us the answer.

But, until that moment on the 19th February, we're going to keep speculating about everyone and anyone who's ever set foot in Walford.

And now it seems as if Mick Carter, played by the delectable Danny Dyer, has been outed as a hot new suspect.

Bookmaker Coral have slashed his odds from 66-1 to 6-1 over the last couple of days following a surge of bets on the character.

"This latest gamble on Mick Carter is very interesting as he had been largely unbacked since we opened betting back in April.

"However, all of a sudden, we have been rushed over with bets on the character over the last couple of days," said Coral’s John Hill.

He added: "Although this is already the biggest betting event in soap opera history, we are expecting to see a lot more business this week on this market as everybody is talking about it and has their idea of the killer.

"We anticipate in the region of £10 million to be gambled across the industry before Thursday evening."

And it's not just Coral who have Mick Carter down as a hot suspect; Ladbrokes have also confirmed that he is their second favourite culprit, just behind Jane Beale.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "Slowly but surely punters have caused Mick's odds to collapse, and it looks like he'll soon be heading off for a stretch in the slammer."

Wowzer - we wonder why everyone's suddenly turned on poor Mick Carter?

Who do YOU think killed Lucy Beale? And will you be watching when the show kicks off its 30th anniversary celebrations on Tuesday 17th February at 7.30pm on BBC One?
