Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) and Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) are two of the unluckiest Walford residents when it comes to matters of the heart.
From runaway Honey, to insatiable bad boy David Wicks (is it bad that we always wanted him and Carol to work things out?), neither of the long-standing Albert Square residents has managed to find their happy-ever-after.
But could that all be about to change?
In scenes set to be shown next week, EastEnders viewers will watch as Carol and Billy share drinks together in The Vic - although both firmly deny it’s a date.
As soon as they drop by Beale’s Plaice for a packet of chips, all sorts of sparks start flying - and it’s not long before the pair lock salt-and-vinegar lips.
However the next day’s events see a hungover Carol give daughter Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) cause for concern - especially when the usually strict grandmother learns that Liam has been skipping school to spend time with Cindy… and decides to let him stay at the Beale house.
Later on in the week, an increasingly-concerned Sonia arranges for her mum to speak to a counsellor from a cancer charity.
And, although she’s reluctant at first, Carol soon opens up and begins to reveal all of her fears and worries for the future…
