It looks as if Max could be about to propose….
Next week Carmel is all-a-flutter when she is convinced that her ginger lothario, Max, is about to propose!
He could well be….only NOT to HER!
OH DEAR. The misunderstanding unfolds next week when a loved-up Carmel stumbles across a beautiful engagement ring and immediately assumes her man, Max, is gearing up to pop the question.
Earlier on Carmel has been gently suggesting to her squeeze that the two of them should move in together. The poor woman still has absolutely no inkling that plotting Max has been stringing her along all this time and only initiated a fake romance so he could wheedle crucial information out of her about the council. What a rogue he is!
“She’s so blind, bless her”, says Bonnie Langford who plays her. “She has no idea about Max’s true intentions. Their relationship feels genuine to her, because there are times when he confides in her and no one else, and looks to her for support.”
Put on the spot by keenie Carmel, Max mumbles something about being willing to shack up with her…AS IF! But all the while we all know his heart really belongs to Wilmott-Brown’s daughter, Fi.
Carmel is immediately excited about the prospect of her and Max co-habiting and when she later discovers an engagement ring lurking about his possessions she naturally assumes he’s decided he also wants to make her a Mrs Max.
Oh dear, are you going to tell her or shall we?!!
Later on, and hardly able to contain her joy, Carmel invites her mates to the Vic, certain that Max is going to make a public proposal and ask her to be his wife. Ok our sympathy is starting to wane. Now Carmel really is getting a little TOO carried away!
Could this possibly get any more awkward? What is going to happen when not only is there no proposal but Max fails to show up?
Meanwhile, is the Branning baddie gearing up to pop the question to Fi? And if not, why is he suddenly in possession of a large sparkly engagement ring?
