What REALLY affected us was ‘Enders legend Dot Branning being arrested for actual murder.

That’s right: chain-smoking, Jesus-loving Dorothy was carted off by the police after confessing to killing her son nasty Nick.

Oh I say.

After Sharon, Ian, Charlie, new Martin Fowler, Fatboy and Kush agreed to move Nick’s body to save Dot from potentially going to prison, she only went and handed herself in!

We all know she didn’t really kill Nick. He asked his ol’ Ma to pick him up some heroin (as you do) and, being the doting mum that she is, Dot fetched away.

Sharon concluded in last night’s episode that Nick had some sort of ‘attack’ as a result of the drugs – see, not Dot’s fault.

So the Laundrette-loving OAP didn’t call an ambulance and instead let ‘Jesus decide’ what would happen to her son. That’s a small detail, really.

Dot leaving Albert Square in the back of a police car was a) totally unexpected and b) absolutely hilarious and, unsurprisingly, the good folk of Twitter had some fun.

Within minutes #FreeDot was trending, as users posted amazing memes of the grandmother.
