EastEnders stars Samantha Womack and Rita Simons may have filmed their final scenes ahead of a dramatic soap exit for the pair later this year.
Samantha and Rita, who play Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell, have already taped Christmas scenes for the BBC show.
The series is known for incredibly dramatic episodes over the festive period and viewers are expecting an explosive departure for the pair after it emerged they were being written out earlier this year.
They will reportedly meet their end during the New Year’s Eve special, and it’s understood they are going to be killed off.
Samantha and Rita were spotted with many of their fellow castmates recently as they filmed Christmas nativity scenes.
They were seen standing alongside Peggy Mitchell’s gravestone and they wore festive jumpers as they attended the church.
The scenes may be the run-up to their expected deaths, news of which allegedly did not go down well with their fellow cast members as they were not consulted.
However, an EastEnders spokesman told Mirror Online: "We know how much our audience hate to have any future storylines spoilt so we will not comment on speculative stories.
"At no point have we received any concerns from the cast about any of out future storylines."
After news of their surprise departure surfaced, Samantha took to Twitter to thank fans for their support.
She wrote: "Thank you SO much for all your kinds words about me leaving EE.
"It’s so humbling to know you loved Ronnie as much as I did! Very grateful Xxx."
Rita added: "Thanku guys 4 all the continued love & support u have shown me (and Roxy) over the years. I’m so grateful for my time on EE. Love to u all."
