Now EastEnders bosses have confirmed they plan to revisit the storyline with a 'shock arrest' later this year.
According to reports, new evidence will come to light resulting in the police arresting a potentially innocent resident.
Dominic Treadwell-Collins told the Radio Times: "We'd been resting the story a little bit to let everyone get a breather.
"But it's going to kick up a notch over the summer with a big arrest that's going to be taking us through into September. And a few old faces are returning for that."
It was confirmed this week that soap favourite Robbie Jackson, played by Dean Gaffney, will be returning later in the year.
Dean said: "I am honoured that Dominic and all at EastEnders have decided to open the door and find out where Robbie's been and what he's been up to."
After Bobby's reveal as the murderer, Ian and Jane decided to cover for their young son.
Could it be one of them that is arrested for their daughter's murder?
