Pregnant Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) was rushed to hospital after Nick Cotton (John Altman) tampered with the brakes on the family car.

Despite being in a critical condition, Ronnie finally gave birth to a baby boy hours later via an emergency C-section, but quickly fell into a coma afterwards.

Now doctors have revealed some upsetting news; each time they fail to bring Ronnie round, it lowers her chance of survival.

Now her sister Roxy (Rita Simons) and husband Charlie (Declan Bennett) are beginning to make plans for what will happen if Ronnie dies.

But could the show kill off the tragic Mitchell character?

Well, with Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) expected to return to the show soon, many have speculated that Ronnie will sadly pass away - and that her aunt will be back in Walford for her funeral.

Pictures have been released, after all, of the cast filming scenes in a graveyard - although they could just as easily be there to bid goodbye to DC Emma Summerhayes.

However, judging by Dominic Treadwell-Collins' previous comments, it seems as if there may be more to Ronnie's story arc.

Speaking of upcoming story lines, he said: "Ronnie will have a big story.

"The question with Ronnie is 'Is she her father’s daughter?' And I think with Ronnie we are going to see how somebody becomes a villain.

"I keep talking about Darth Vader. The making of a villain. Not a soap bitch, but a villain."

We wonder if Ronnie may awaken from her coma - but as a villainous, more twisted version of herself?

Or, just maybe, this could really be goodbye for the glamorous Mitchell sister. We hope not - we truly do.
