Lee Carter broke poor Whitney's heart in tonight's (Tuesday 14th February) EastEnders as he dumped her on Valentine's Day.The eldest of Mick and Linda's kids only married Whit in November, but tonight saw him walk out of her life - and Walford - for good.
Fans know that the marriage hasn't been a bed of roses. Lee has repeatedly lied to his wife about money, his job and his involvement in the robbery at the Queen Vic.
Viewers were left stunned after Friday's episode which saw Lee slap Whitney across the face and accuse her of flirting with his friend.
Whitney has shared an illicit kiss with her father-in-law, Mick (Danny Dyer) while her marriage has been in crisis. And with Danny-boy Hatchard who plays the troubled young man due to leave the BBC soap, it's not been a surprise to see Lee pack his bags.
He took the advice of his dad who told him to walk away from Whitney if he loved her and that she deserved better then him.
Lee left Whitney sat in Beale's as he packed his things. When she returned to their flat, she found a not which simply said: "Sorry but I just don't love you anymore." Poor Whitney.
So have we seen the last of Lee Carter - or will he come back to face up to his responsibilities?
