EastEnders fans call out ‘awful’ Kathy and Ian Beale scene

And they weren't too impressed...

EastEnders viewers spotted a weird blunder in Tuesday’s episode that left them wondering if actors are recording their lines from home.

Fans took to social media to claim a scene featuring Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and mum Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) had been dubbed over after noticing that the audio sounded suspiciously different to the rest of the episode.

During the scene, Kathy tells Ian, “Come on, this breakfast is important,” but the phrase sounded like it had been recorded separately from the rest of her lines.

One viewer wrote, "Nice to see the #EastEnders cast are able to dub their lines via Zoom..."

Another questioned, “Was that line really important enough to dub in?"

A third branded the dubbing “awful”, adding, “You can usually tell when a line is dubbed, just, but that was blatantly obvious. It made me laugh though.”

“I don't know what's funnier, Kathy's voice or the fact that this line was even dubbed in the first place,” remarked one more.

This isn’t the only blunder spotted by fans recently as eagle-eyed viewers noticed the Minute Mart was selling Tesco own brand chocolates.

Hmm, we don’t think the supermarket giant would be too pleased with that.

Taking to Twitter to share their confusion, one fan wrote, “Why is Minute Mart selling Tesco Mint thins? #EastEnders”, while another referenced the supermarket’s well known slogan, saying, “"Omg 😂🙄 #EastEnders #EveryLittleHelps".

This all comes as bosses at the BBC soap put plans in place to return to filming next month.

Filming was halted back in March when the UK went into lockdown, meaning episodes were cut down to two a week, so fans will be delighted to hear that production will resume.

BBC’s director of content, Charlotte Moore, said, “We've been looking carefully at how we can safely put some of our shows back into production, and I'm pleased to announce that we plan to begin filming again on both EastEnders and Top Gear by the end of June.

"Of course, we will work within Government guidelines. Crews will be strictly limited. Cast members will do their own hair and make-up. Social distancing will be in place."
