It seems as if Hollyoaks’s Gloved Hand Killer could rise again in BBC One’s EastEnders…

Hollyoaks fans were stunned when Lindsey Butterfield was murdered by Silas Blissett a few weeks ago.

After learning of her less than squeaky-clean past, Silas (Jeff Rawle) cornered her in the living room of Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe)’s home.

He then told the Gloved Hand Killer that her newborn baby would be better off without her, before finishing off Lindsey once and for all.

But, while we may have said goodbye to Lindsey, it seems as if things are only just beginning for actress Sophie Austin.

She told BANG! Showbiz: “I’ve just been going for meetings, there are bits in the pipeline, but I just have to wait and see what happens.”

She added: “I love all the soaps, I’ve got friends in all the soaps, but I’d have to say I would want to join EastEnders. Because it is down south.

“I’m a southern girl at heart. And then that would be nice to be back with Gillian [Taylforth] again.”

That’s right, everyone - Sophie fancies her chances in Walford!

With the likes of Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) and Bobby Beale (Eliot Carrington), there’s not much room for another serial killer.

However there’s no denying that EastEnders is THE place to be if you want to play a strong female character; after all, it’s been described by show bosses as a soap about leading ladies, and their men.

Sophie is more than talented enough to throw herself into any role on the BBC One soap, whether that’s a market stall trader or a long-lost Mitchell.

We, for one, would LOVE to see her on the show.

However, before you get too excited, it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon…

She said firmly: “It’s nice to have a break, I only finished a few weeks ago, actually have a sleep!”

Bless her; we bet she’s secretly glad to have put Lindsey behind her, eh?
