EastEnders fans were absolutely devastated when they were forced to say goodbye to BOTH Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill) and Tamwar Masood (Himesh Patel).

But, as it happens, we were actually pretty happy that they wound up ditching Walford on the same day.

Why?

Well, because it meant that they were leaving together, of course!

Let’s just take a little look back at those emotional scenes, shall we…?

HE CAN’T IMAGINE HIS LIFE WITHOUT NANCY, GUYS!!!

So yeah, it goes without saying that Nancy and Tamwar - Nanwar, to their shippers - were one of the cutest couples to ever grace Albert Square.

It was probably a combination of her tomboyish confidence, and Tamwar’s sweetly awkward demeanour… not to mention Maddy and Himesh’s on screen chemistry.

But, either way, they’ve both disappeared on a trip around the world together, leaving a little Nanwar-shaped hole in our hearts.

However the duo stepped out together in REAL LIFE on the red carpet at the LGBT Awards 2016.

And they looked wildly different.

Check it out…

Yup, Himesh has ditched his glasses and ill-fitting clothes, swapping them for a designer suit and slicked-back hair.

And Maddy?

Well, Maddy’s tossed aside her basketball shorts and let her hair outta that topknot, donning a burnt orange dress and slick of lippy instead.

Don’t they look fantastic?

Speaking to Digital Spy about her decision to leave the BBC One soap, Maddy said: “It was time for Nancy to take a break from her family and me from EastEnders after having a wonderful time working on the show.

“I was surrounded by a terrific team both on and off camera and I shall miss seeing them all on a daily basis, especially the fabulous Carter family.”

Himesh added: “I’m looking forward to new challenges, perhaps on the stage or behind the camera.

“Whatever awaits me, I’ll miss my family at EastEnders immensely – they’ve watched me grow from boy to man and supported me every step of the way.”

Himesh is currently working on a fan-funded film called The Fox, as well as his amazing podcast (he recently interviewed Ben Hardy for it!).

Maddy, meanwhile, will be starring in A Midsummer Night's Dream at Southwark Playhouse - how exciting!

The door has been left well and truly open for these two lovebirds; maybe they can return one day in the not-so-distant future - complete with their VERY grown up new looks, eh?
