Last night the BBC’s Great Debate - which took place in Wembley Arena – aired EastEnders to the audience whilst waiting for the live broadcast to start.

Which certainly divided opinions, before the EU Referendum debate had even started.

And the audience took to Twitter and Instagram to share their shock about the decision to air the soap as a “warm up” to the debate.

Some audience members were quite happy about the decision however…

And many viewers of the Great Debate who weren’t in the Wembley Arena audience compared the debate to the BBC soap, unaware of what was aired to the crowd before the live broadcast.

And one audience member had a very important question…

Were you in the audience? What did you think of the decision?
