… because you’re going to be forced to make an impossible choice.

Yup, just like Sophie, you’re going to be forced to choose between your beloved soaps, as Emmerdale and EastEnders are set to be pitted against each other in the ratings.

Eep.

The finalised TV schedules have been released for the week commencing Monday 30th May.

It was revealed that an extra-special hour-long episode of Emmerdale has been scheduled to air on Tuesday, May 31 at 7pm.

So what’s the issue?

Well, as stalwart ‘Enders fans will have already noticed, it means that there’s going to be a clash.

Yup, the final 30 minutes of Emmerdale will spill over into the rival BBC One soap’s time slot, as their episode will broadcast at 7.30pm.

Speaking previously about competitive scheduling between BBC One and ITV, EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins fumed: "It made me so angry.

“It's not good sportsmanship and it's the audience that loses out. It's not the right thing to do. As Netflix and Amazon get bigger, the BBC and ITV need to stop trying to blow each other out of the pool.

“Because they're both endangered species."

He added to the Radio Times: “They need to stick together and not fight each other. We're all on the same side."

Despite the competitive nature of the schedule, however, it seems as if Emmerdale do have a legitimate reason for encroaching into the EastEnders time slot.

Apparently they’ll be losing one episode in the upcoming Britain's Got Talent live semi-finals week.
