The 34-year-old made only his debut in the soap last year – but now it's been claimed that producers have axed his character.
A spokesperson for the show told Digital Spy: "We can confirm that Declan Bennett will be leaving EastEnders. We wish him all the best for the future."
Actor Declan also took to Twitter to comment on the news. He wrote: "Sayonara EastEnders. It's been a right ride. Much love to all of u for the well wishes. See you on the flip side [sic]."
Since joining as legend Dot Cotton's grandson in 2014, Declan's character has been involved in some dramatic story lines.
After lying to Dot and claiming that his father Nick was dead, Charlie embarked on a whirlwind relationship with Ronnie Mitchell – resulting in her getting pregnant.
Charlie and Ronnie later married but she was involved in a car crash on her wedding day, which was caused by Nick. Thankfully her unborn baby survived and was delivered safely.
But Ronnie was comatose for several months, during which Charlie started an affair with her sister Roxy.
So far details of Charlie's exit haven't been revealed but it's thought the scenes will air in the autumn.
