There is some great news for fans of Danny Dyer's EastEnders character Mick Carter this morning. It's being widely reported that the 39-year-old actor is ready to return to work following a break from filming the hit BBC show. Danny has taken some time off to recover from exhaustion and has spent the last few weeks in South Africa.
The Daily Star reported that Danny was ready to get back to work behind the bar of the Queen Vic - and that his crew and castmates were planning on throwing him a surprise Welcome Back party to celebrate his return. Awwww. Although, not much of a surprise now.
A show insider apparently told the publication: "They’re keen to show everyone is behind him 100% after his tough few months.
“They are planning a round of applause when he steps back behind the bar for filming for the first time.”
Danny was hastily written out of the show after taking some time out following rumours that producers were concerned about his party lifestyle. However, show bosses have doggedly denied that DD was leaving for good, or that his break was in any way enforced.
Whatever the circumstances, it will be good to see Mick Carter back in his rightful place, behind the Queen Vic bar. That's if the Branning Bros don't snap it up while he's away.
