EastEnders bosses have released new footage which sees an alternative ending for characters Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell.
The Walford sisters both met a fatal end when they drowned in a swimming pool during the New Year’s Day episode.
However, producers have since released an alternative ending in the form of a five-second long video on Snapchat.
In the club, Ronnie can be seen finding Roxy dead on a pool table from what is understood to be a drugs overdose.
The character, who is dressed in a bridal gown as she was due to marry Jack, can then be seen breaking down into tears in a hospital as she grieves for her sister.
The ending that was actually aired on the BBC soap saw both sisters die but the alternative saw only one pass away.
Cast members Samantha Womack, Rita Simons and Scott Maslen spoke out after last night’s episode aired.
On her sadness at leaving the BBC soap, Samantha tweeted: “I’m sorry I can’t respond to any comments.. I’m honestly broken. An appropriate end to the darkest year ever. @OfficialRita @RealScottMaslen.”
Rita wrote: “Thank you for your lovely tweets. I don’t really have words right now. But words will come.. in good time #R&R.”
And Scott posted: “End of an era! #ronnieandroxy loved working with @sam_womack and @OfficialRita #eastenders #sadtimes thanks for all the tweets.”
