Is there going to be a Downton Abbey film after all?
The Downton Abbey fanbase have gone into meltdown today after Jeremy Swift, who plays butler Septimus Spratt in the drama, appeared on Lorraine today to discuss the possibility of a Downton film.
And fans will be happy to hear that he has added yet more fuel to the fire.
The 56-year-old actor from Stockton-On-Tees, who appeared on Downton Abbey from 2013 to its end in 2015, spoke to Lorraine this morning.
He said: "There IS a film script which we've all been sent, but it disappeared in a Mission Impossible-stylee from our emails.
"It's supposed to be filming this year, but it hasn't been locked down yet. I think the logistics are going to be tough - the young ones, Michelle Dockery and people like that, have flown off into the world and are doing American pilots and that kind of thing. It's just getting everyone in that same space of time."
Lorraine then said what we were all thinking: "We really need it - we WANT it," to which Jeremy replied: "Absolutely, I think there is a huge appetite for it. It was a great experience and life-changing to be on that show."
This comes after Phyllis Logan, who played Mrs Hughes, later Mrs Carson, in the drama revealed that there was talk of a film on Good Morning Britain last week.
The 61-year-old from Scotland told Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway that: "The will is definitely there with everybody involved. So, let's fingers crossed that we can make it all come about at some stage. And we'd love all to get back together again and have one last hurrah, we certainly would."
Although Phyllis echoed her co-star's comments when she said they would have difficulty getting everyone together at the same time. She said: "There are so many of us. In normal film situations you might have a core cast of half a dozen or whatever. But this is a core cast of thousands it feels like at times. And so... herding cats?"
AND that's not including the comments from screenwriter and mastermind Julian Fellowes, who told The Daily Mail in January that: "It hasn't been confirmed or commissioned... But we are all hoping it will happen. That's all I know.
"Obviously I have been thinking about it because if they suddenly give the go-ahead I don't want to be completely caught standing. But I wouldn't take it as more than that."
We are waiting with baited breath... Put us out of our misery, producers!
