Downton Abbey's Christmas special was good, but even the sight of Mrs Hughes and Carson wandering hand-in-hand to the ocean won't keep us going until the new series airs in the Autumn.

Which is why we're over the moon to discover Downton Tabby, the ultimate fix for Downton Abbey fans and cat-lovers alike!

Just like the hit TV show, Downton Tabby follows the lives of England's oldest and finest family of cats - as well as those of their servants.

From the sinking of the Kitanic to the Jazz Age, these posh, spoiled, stuck-up-but-charming English cats look… well, they look pretty gosh darn amazing in their little period costumes. And, whilst affectionately making fun of Downton Abbey, the book makes a far more important point: we treat our pets like high society. Their servants are us.

Makes you think, doesn't it?
Makes you think, doesn't it?

Deeeep stuff.

Creator Chris Kelly explained to Smashing Interviews magazine: "I have three animals right now. I have a cat, a dog and a guinea pig. One morning I was getting up to feed them all, and I realized that it was exactly like Downton Abbey when all of the bells go off.

"So, I thought, “I am Carson. It’s my job now to take care of this family of animals.” That’s what got me starting to think about it."

Essentially he's saying that if you live with a cat, the butler, maid and cook is you.

Check out Mrs Catmore, alongside her long-suffering assistant, cooking up a storm in the kitchen:

Mrs Catmore needs to keep an eye on Daisy, we think...

Or, if you ever wondered, the exact table settings required for an aristocratic (or should that be aristo-cat-ic?) dinner:

... seems simple enough

We love it.
