For those who don’t know (and who are you people?), Tangled was Disney’s big-hitter of 2010.
Adding its own unique twist to the classic tale of Rapunzel, it followed a feisty princess on her journey to see the “floating lanterns” - and packed in a whole lotta action along the way.
Think frying-pan battles, a lot of catchy sing-alongs, a run-in with the dashing Flynn Ryder (aka Eugene), and a VERY romantic boat scene, for starters!
The last chapter in the Tangled story was revealed in 2012 with a short film called Tangled Ever After short film, which premiered in theaters in front of the 3-D re-release of Beauty and the Beast.
We all watched the kidnapped princess tie the knot with her beloved swashbuckling bandit - and that was, pretty much, it.
Until NOW, that is! Are you ready for a Tangled TV show?
The TV show, which is slated to premiere in 2017, takes place after the movie but before the short film, and follows Rapunzel as she gets to know her parents, her kingdom, and the citizens of Corona.
According to the official Disney press release: “Her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity about the world drives her to the realization that there is so much more she needs to learn before she can truly accept her royal destiny.
“She boldly puts her crown and impending marriage on hold to seek out epic adventures, much to the dismay of the King who, after missing out on Rapunzel’s youth, must accept that his daughter is now an independent young woman.”
Even better? Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, who voiced the main characters for the movie, are reprising their roles for the show.
We’re SO glad that Disney bosses finally saw the light (ha!) and gave us the Tangled update we’ve all been longing for - but how about you?
