Coronation Street fans were thrilled last night by the return of an old favourite in the form of Debbie Webster, who hasn’t appeared on the show in 34 years.
Debbie – played by actress Sue Devaney – first arrived on Coronation Street in 1984, but moved down south the following year with her dad Bill and his new wife, Elaine Prior, leaving her elder brother, Kevin Webster, in Weatherfield.
The siblings kept in contact through the years, and last night Debbie made her shock return to attend the will reading of her Auntie Vi.
Fans took to Twitter to share their delight at seeing the familiar face, with one writing, “Wow! Kevin’s original sister!! She hasn’t been in it for decades."
“Aww soo lovely to see Sue Devaney,” said another, while one more wrote, "Debbie, oh, I love, love, LOVE Sue Devaney! Welcome back to the street."
