The 37-year-old, despite having years of acting experience, is ‘petrified’ but thinks this is a good thing.
He told Digital Spy: “I’m petrified. I’m not going to lie to you. I’ve done things on stage, I’ve done Broadway – this live episode is absolutely petrifying. But it’s like television history so it’s an honour to be part of it.
“I think you’ve got to be petrified – I ain’t going into it giving it the big’un because it’s a real big ask and we all know what that entails.
“I’ll just be so happy when we wrap up on the Friday if it’s gone well. I know people watch it because it’s live and they want to see things go wrong like a boom drop into shot… it’s scary, though. But you know what, bring it on.”
At the National Television Awards last night [21 January] Danny picked up the award for Serial Drama Performance.
But The Business star admitted earning his award hasn’t been easy. He said: “It’s so hard. It’s so hard. I had to draw on all my experience to get through it – it’s so truthful every single day.
“There’s so much dialogue involved and to create a character that anyone gives a f**k about every day is a difficult thing. It’s drained the life out of me but I love it, I love it, I love it.”
Last night Danny thanked his partner Jo Mas when collecting his award. He said: “I wanna thank my old woman, that raving little sort over there, because if I don’t she’ll club me late! I love her to death.”
