During the Corrie Live episode, stunned viewers watched as Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) clubbed Callum Logan (Sean Ward) to death in a desperate attempt to save her sister-in-law’s life.

She and David (Jack P Shepherd) then dumped Callum’s body in Gail’s manhole - and he’s allegedly remained there, quietly decomposing, ever since.

Or has he?

Plenty of Corrie viewers have questioned whether or not the villain is actually dead, particularly as we haven’t seen his body since they bundled it into Gail’s manhole.

Plus, you know, nobody’s commented on the smell of rotting corpse.

Even Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap, has waded into the ‘is he or isn’t he dead?’ debate.

"I know some people were questioning whether Sean Ward's character Callum is really dead as people said they saw him breathe," she wrote in her OK! magazine column.

She hinted heavily: “That would be a great twist wouldn't it?”

Then again, Callum has been trapped inside his concrete grave without food, water, or oxygen for weeks now.

Surely Corrie producers would have taken things WAY too far if they have him pop out of a dark corner sometime soon…?

Here’s what Sean Ward had to say about the matter on social networking site, Twitter:

“Just to clear up the hype CALLUM is dead x”

And just to absolutely clarify this point, Senior Coronation Street Publicity manager Alison Sinclair tweeted:

“I can confirm he most certainly is! @seanjward however is alive and well and welcome to the corrie cobbles any time!”

Guess that’s that, then.

It’s a shame, really; we’d have enjoyed another miraculous soap resurrection!

Coronation Street continues on Friday 6th November at 7.30 & 8.30pm on ITV1 / ITV1 HD.
