Coronation Street: the residents vs Ray Crosby

Over the last few weeks everyone's emotions have been pushed to their limits, with Peter having to face demons from his past when he relapsed.

Having been convinced by Leanne that is relationship with Carla is worth saving, Peter gets down on one knee and proposes.

Telling Carla that he's sorry for his previous paranoia and wants to show how much she means to him, Peter explains he's booked a blessing in Kefalonia.

Meanwhile, Daniel pays a visit to Adam's flat after stumbling across the truth about Carla's infidelity and confronts his friend.

But how will Daniel react when Adam breaks the news his brother has been planning to propose to Carla, and it's probably already been done?

After spotting Daniel and Carla looking intimate and chatting in hushed tones at the Rovers, Peter's paranoia once more gets the better of him.

Storming up to Daniel and Carla, Peter accuses them of sleeping together behind his back and Adam watches on silently.

Still reeling from saying goodbye to Oliver, Leanne is thankful for Nick's support with the funeral but admits it's time to go their separate ways.

Leanne packs up the last of her things and breaks the news to Nick that she's going to stay with Eva in France, leaving Nick devastated.

Meanwhile, Geoff and Yasmeen's court battle rages on. With both of them having done all they can, they're forced to await their fate.

But just as it looks as though a verdict could be reached some damning new evidence comes to light which could swing things.

Is justice about to be done? Or has this simply been the beginning of the nightmare for Yasmeen and Alya?

The residents are thrilled with their plan to have the brewery listed so they can stop Ray's plan to demolish the street for his new development.

Kevin excitedly tells Debbie that this afternoon they'll be lodging a request to get the listing, which scheming Debbie feeds back to Ray.

Determined not to be beaten, Ray resolves that they'll get the brewery out of the way first and bulldoze it before the application can go through.

When the residents see the digger making its way down the street early they all launch into action and stand in the street, blocking its progress.

Thrilled to have slowed the progress of the demolition, Abi, Kevin, Brian, Cathy, David, Ken, Rita and Shona set up a protest camp in front of the brewery.

The residents are feeling buoyed and confident they could beat Ray but soon a long armed digger arrives to work around them.

As the camp descends into chaos, longest serving resident Ken fearlessly steps up in front of the digger refusing to be moved to protect his home.

Ray's builders aren't about to be deterred by an old man and the operator steps out of his cabin to order Ken to get out of the way.

But it's his first big mistake as Abi, seizing her chance, jumps up into the cab and slams the door, taking control of the arm.

But soon disaster ensues and Abi loses control of the heavy machinery, the arm crashing into a nearby substation and plunging neighbouring streets into darkness.

Back at number 1 Carla is concerned when she realises that Peter hasn't returned home and there'a bottle of whiskey missing.

Soon, Peter arrives home and Carla is relieved to see the bottle of whiskey is still unopened but they're not out of the woods yet.

A desperate Carla tries her best to explain to Peter but he defiantly opens the bottle takes a swig, refusing to listen to her excuses.

Elsewhere, hearing that Leanne has left Nick, Natasha calls round with Sam to offer her support and soon Sam has an idea.

Sam pens a letter to Leanne, asking her not to leave and detailing all the ways she might learn to like him if she stuck around long enough to find out.

Geoff refuses to accept his campaign of terror against Yasmeen is over and lets himself into Speed Dahl, launching himself on Alya in the dark.

Afterwards Geoff makes his way over to number six, pouring lighter fluid round it and setting it alight. Will this be Geoff's final act?

Meanwhile, Gary pays a visit to the bistro to deliver the rights to the factory to Ray, the final piece of the puzzle to owning the street.

But unbeknownst to Gary, Ray has invited Faye for a celebratory drink and when Gary interrupts them Ray is furious.

Faye emerges with her shirt torn and her make-up smudged and Gary, shocked, sends her back to his place immediately.

Incensed, Gary follows Faye home and he and Maria try their best to get her to open up to them about what happened with Ray in his office.

But it's clear Faye isn't about to share what went on and refuses to take any action against Ray, leaving Gary seething about selling to him.
