Soap fans have been loving analysing pre and post lockdown episodes, with one storyline particularly tickling them.

Viewers settled down to watch Corrie last night as the first episodes filmed after lockdown hit screens, and fans couldn’t help giggling about Simon Barlow’s barnet, which appeared to grow during the ad break.

In a scene with Jenny Bradley discussing a missed exam, Simon’s hair is cropped close to his head, but in the next scene following the ad break his hair is substantially more unruly, thanks to the closure of hair salons over the last four months.

“Spotting which scenes were recorded after lockdown has added a whole new level of interest to #corrie,” tweeted one fan, and then sharing two side by side pics of Simon, added, “Simon Barlow had a looooong ad break. #corrie”.

“Nick’s hair seems to change from flat to bouffant and back again in Monday’s episode!” agreed another, while one more wrote, “It is like when the Neighbours cast take their Christmas summer break and once a year all the cast are suddenly all tanned with different hair?!”

Like other soaps, Corrie was forced to pause filming thanks to the coronavirus lockdown and as a result aired adapted programming, relying on old episodes to fill the gaps.
