We feel like we might DEFINITELY need our hankies for this soap exit.
David Neilson, who has played cafe owner Roy Cropper for twenty years, is filming his final scenes at the moment.
He will bow out of ITV’s Coronation Street in January 2016.
But, thankfully, this won’t be goodbye forever.
As it happens, the 66-year-old will only be taking a short break, so that he can star in an upcoming theatre production.
Admitting he desperately needs a break, David told The Sun: “I’ve taken three months out to do this. I asked and they came back and were very accommodating.
“I think they realised it was something I needed to do. It recharges the batteries.”
A representative for Coronation Street said: “We are always happy to try and accommodate cast requests to take time off for plays provided enough notice is given, which was the case here.
“Our writers have been able to explain his absence in the show for viewers.
“We try to accommodate requests from the cast as best we can and we wish David well.”
Will you miss Roy?
