In last night’s Coronation Street episode viewers were surprised when the character David Platt swore before 9pm.
Corrie fans will know that David, played by Jack P. Shepherd, has been seeking revenge ever since his wife Kylie Platt was brutally murdered over the summer.
Not being able to cope with the loss of his wife, David planned to kill Clayton and then himself. However, his mother Gail discovered his goodbye video and with the help of Nick Tilsley the pair locked David in the Bistro cellar.
David clearly not happy locked in the cellar then shouted: “Let me out of here so I can kill the b-----d!”
And viewers on the ITV show we’re clearly shocked. One person tweeted: “CoronationStreet I have my ten year old asking me what a bast**d is why was this language used before the 9pm watershed #raging #unacceptable”
Others tweeted:
“I’ve just heard the word ‘b-----d’ on Coronation Street and I’m honestly shocked”
“#CoronationStreet David saying ‘b-----d’”
“Saying b-stard at 7.45pm. Coronation Street you rebels #corrie”
“Oh snap, David swore. #CoronationStreet”
“Can’t believe David Platt just said the word b-----d on #Corrie before the watershed as well #CoronationStreet”
“Bloody hell corrie! It’s only ten to eight… #CoronationStreet”
“Sorry did David just say b-----d? It’s only 10 to chuffin’ 8 @itvcorrie #CoronationStreet #corrie #watershed”
Although some people found the funny side of it:
@itvcorrie sorry what did David just say?! I almost spat my Kiev across the room about time they started cussing #Corrie #CoronationStreet”
“Well at least he didn’t drop the C bomb #CoronationStreet”
“B-----D BEFORE 9 tut tut Corrie #Coronation Street”
Some people even compared David trying to escape the cellar to the Shawshank Redemption:
“Oooh. David swore and it’s become the Shawshank Redemption. #coronationstreet yas!”
David is doing a Shawkshank redemption on #CoronationStreet”
“I love it – David’s doing his very own Shawshank impression #Corrie #CoronationStreet #escape”
