Coronation Street have unveiled the first images of the new Summer Spellman as the character heads back to the cobbles after staying with her grandma for the last few months.
The street has been thrown into chaos in recent weeks with the return of Summer’s former guardian Todd Grimshaw, who was last seen in 2017 when he assaulted a police officer and went on the run.
Summer was then adopted by Todd’s ex Billy Mahew and will be returning to the street later this year to confront Todd over leaving her.
And just like Todd, who made his return with a new actor playing him (Gareth Pierce took over from Bruno Langley), Summer will be played by a new actress after Matilda Freeman quit the role to focus on other opportunities.
